Hooksett Firefighters Battle 3 Alarm Fire
On March 2nd, 2008, at 09:41 hours, the Hooksett Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to a structure fire with reported trapped occupants at 35 Goffstown Road on the town's west side. First arriving units found heavy fire and smoke conditions coming from one end of a large 2-story, single family home. All of the occupants were confirmed to be out of the building upon arrival. A 2nd Alarm was quickly transmitted, bringing in additional fire department units from surrounding communities. Shortly after, a 3rd Alarm was transmitted bringing a total of 18 communities to the fire and cover the town. Strong wind conditions, the building's construction and snow conditions were obstacles that caused fireground crews to work 3 1/2 hours to complete the extinguishment.
The American Red Cross, NH State Fire Marshalls Office, the Hooksett Police, the Tri-Town Ambulance Service and PSNH supported or assisted with the incident. Fire Departments from Bow, Allenstown, Pembroke, Chichester, Concord, Manchester, Goffstown, Dunbarton, Weare, Derry, Londonderry, Auburn, Candia, Bedford, Loudon, and Raymond worked or covered the town. The fire investigation revealed the most probable cause to be an electrical malfunction of a kitchen stove. Building loss is expected to be at or exceed $150,000.
