Hooksett Fire Rescue Department
Ambulance
(63 Ambulance 1)
In the Spring of 2008, the Hooksett Fire Rescue Department will have a new addition to the fleet. The Hooksett Fire Rescue Department will begin to run an emergency ambulance, back-up to the Tri-Town Ambulance. This ambulance will be utilized when Tri-Town is unavailable or out of the area. This will be staffed with basic and advanced life support emergency medical technicians (EMT).

This ambulance was purchased entirely through impact fees. Impact fees are collected from new businesses, which develop in the town. In addition to purchasing the ambulance with these fees, the Hooksett Fire Rescue Department was able to get the latest medical equipment to go on this unit. This includes a 12-Lead Cardiac Monitor, able to transmit cardiac rhythms to the hospital, before we arrive. We have also purchased a Microsoft Tablet. This allows more efficient and safer patient data recording. The ambulance and its equipment were done at no cost to the taxpayer.
The Ambulance itself is a 2008 International Type 1 Ambulance. This ambulance also doubles as a rescue truck, as it will have many valuable rescue tools that are not usually part of an ambulance. These tools include the Jaws of Life, vehicle stabilization equipment, scene lighting, various hand tools, self-contained breathing apparatus and other rescue equipment.
This ambulance will be operated out of the Central Fire Station, located on 15 Legends Drive in downtown Hooksett. The Firefighter/EMTs on the fire department will cross staff this with the engines. This means that the ambulance will be staffed and available 24/7.
